On the other hand, IP surveillance nowadays becomes the main stream of the market because of its network function, flexibility and diversified service. The current ticket sales system Prodata, based on magnetic stripe cards, was introduced in the early '90s. This system has now been industrial and functionally obsolete. Consequently, the operational reliability and a lack of spare

parts for the system itself demand a replacing technology. This replacement will become a reality after the realization of the projects Bo and ReTi.

Bo stands for on-board computer; the project embraces the ultimate replacement of the current Prodata drivers console, the establishment of a communications network and the delivery of a number of support services that can be used by other projects.

ReTi stands for "Passenger registration and Ticketing"; the project embraces a new infrastructure for customer acquisition, sales, registration and ticketing, control, data collection and management and revenue management.

Applications for ORing Railway Surveillance System TRA "Smiling Train" & MRT "Wenhu Line"

Background Introduction

With the increasing public awareness of the security issues on mass transportation systems, ORing Industrial Networking Corp has released series of industrial Ethernet switches that target at railway applications. Products such as TES-250-M12 and TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1 have been successfully applied to Taiwan Railway Association’s (TRA) Smiling Train as well as Taipei Mass Rapid Transit’s (MRT) Wenhu Line, providing passengers with a whole new travelling experience.

TRA’s six-star EMU800 Smiling Train has been officially launched earlier this month (2014.01.02, Taipei Times). This new commuter train purchased from Japan has not only offered economic ticket price, but shorten the travel time while considerately create cozy atmosphere and seats for passengers traveling on this train.

 

Known as the “smiling train,” the locomotive of the train is decorated with a yellow line resembling a crescent moon on the front. Both Smiling Train and Wenhu Line are embedded with ORing’s Ethernet applications—EN50155 Managed Ethernet Switches that are designed specifically for railway applications. These applications operate with double redundancy; O-Ring & Hardware Bypass, minimizing the recovery time for 250 machines to less than 10ms when the internet shuts off. With such advantage, ORing’s Etherent switches ensure passengers with best guarantee on commuting security.

Projects Details 

The first success story begins with TRA’s Smiling Train. Each cabin of EMU800 Smiling Train is embedded with ORing’s TES-250-M12 Light-managed Ethernet Switch. This product comes with 5 fast Ethernet ports. One of them is connected to industrial computer that operates as the media for network data transmission, controlling the digital entertainment system, Led display, VoIP phone, etc. TES-250-M12operates flexibly in wide temperature; -40~70°C, ensuring stable data transmission when the transportation system is moving at a high speed. In addition, ORing’s circular back-up system, ORing, has greatly enhanced data transmission stability by assuring no networking failure.

Another achievement could be found in MRT’s Wenhu Line. Started in 1996, the MRT connecting Wenshan and Neihu Districts (abbreviated as Wenhu Line) is the first MRT Line in Taipei. However, it was not until 2013 that the whole line was embedded with railway surveillance system. Aiming at this specific project, ORing Industrial Networking Corporation has embedded a managed PoE Ethernet switch—TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1—that are specifically designed for railway applications. TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1 has 8 of IEEE 802.3af PoE fast Ethernet ports with M12 interface connectors, each supporting 48VDC power supply that runs at 15.4 watt. Also, two of them (1 set) support Bypass Gigabit ports. PSE device offers power supply for devices (PDs) that work compatibly with IEEE 802.3af, including surveillance devices, wireless AP as well as IP phones, etc. Besides, TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1

has the best Ethernet redundant technology—O-Ring, minimizing the recovery time to less than 10ms while supporting double power supply. When facing a power shutdown, TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1 has two ports for bypass to avoid network failure that may occur to Ethernet switches. Each cabin of Wenhu Line is embedded with a TPS-3082GT-M12-BP1, connecting to 4 cameras and entertainment systems. With such surveillance, this product has greatly enhanced the traveling safety for both passengers and the cabin crew. Aside from the benefits in terms of functions, the employment of TPS-3082GT-M12 has saved a lot of spaces since products are embedded under the seats.

TPS-3082GT-M12 and TES-250-M12 support reliable network system, and have both equipped with EN50155 certification. The M12 connector within is anti-quake and totally caters to the railway needs.  HSR Interlock Control System

Shanghai–Hangzhou (HuHang) High-Speed RailChina

On October 26, 2010, the Shanghai–Hangzhou High-Speed Railway, also known as the HuHang High Speed Rail, had opened. The Shanghai–Hangzhou High-Speed Railway is 202 km long, stopping at Minhang, Songjiang, and Jinshan Districts of Shanghai City, plus the cities of Jiaxing and Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province. This rail line, with 8 train stations 2 turnouts, is coordinated by HuHang Intercity Station of Shanghai Customer Specialist Center. The system requires the implementation of the CLC (central logic controller) for each regional section to communicate with the main station – for collectively handling communications with the main station, as well as station-to-station(scene) interface. Additionally, the station also has implementation of the ZLC (zone logic controller), which handles emergency control terminal and other equipment. The ZLC exchanges information with the central station via the secret redundancy channel, forming "regional computer network system loaded with ability for live emergency control". 

This project uses 20 ORing RES-3242GC-E Ethernet switches. Two of these ORing Ethernet switches are placed at each train station for dual-link network redundancy. Each RES-3242GC-E is connected to 2 servers for RAID 1 redundancy. Different units of RES-3242GC-E are inter-connected in 2x2-and-get-2 hardware redundancy, and the communications among all sub-stations and the main station are carried through the SDH transmission network of Ministry of Railways.

Project Overview

  • ORing RES-3242GC-E – industrial-grade rack-mount managed Ethernet switch (managed by Open-Vision the powerful network management software) that handles all network traffic among servers, CLCs, and PLCs for the train station. The network is kept uninterrupted by O-Ring redundancy technology and redundant power inputs.

 Railway ITCS Event Log System

сGE ITCS System Event Log Transmission System for Qingzang Railway in China

Qingzang Railway, also known as the Qinghai–Tibet Railway, is the first railway in China to use the GE ITCS (Incremental Train Control System) for enhanced train control. Train stations with ITCS installed do not need signaling device or rail track circuitry. Instead, only the railroad switch devices are implemented. ITCS combines automatic block, train station interlock control, and train speeding control in one package, controlling the train when it stops at or passes through the station or when it is performing other related activities. The wireless network system implemented is for the automatic backup of ITCS System Event Log when the train enters the station. Qingzang Railway has 78 locomotives in total. Each locomotive is equipped with one ORing TAR-120, while the train station control center is also equipped with one ORing TAR-120 – for a total of 79 TAR-120s used. On each locomotive, the TAR-120 is connected to the DVR that records the ITCS System Event Log. When the train enters the station, the TAR-120 on the locomotive communicates with the TAR-120 in the train station control center, and the ITCS System Event Log would be successfully uploaded to the train station control center.

The application of railway technology – Puyuma Express

Project Background

The Express is named after the aboriginal tribe in Taitung county, it means “united” in the language. The Puyuma Express represents the progression in railway transportation for the east Taiwan. Its route includes the Yiland Line, North-Link Line and Hualien-Taintung Line, it will soon serve the passengers on the East coast. The Puruma Express not only saves time, but also brings the most amazing traveling experience to all the passengers.

Project Layout

The highlight of the Puyuma Express is its networking environment which covers the entertaining function, communication and surveillance, etc. All the equipment in the train cars is based on the networking system, which not only solves the problem of wiring configuration, but also offers the massive and stable data transmission. The ORing products show its state-of-the-art quality on the Puyuma Express and achieve its goal for wireless network.

The Puyuma Express is included the front/ back locomotives and 8 train cars, there are 18 ORing T-series Ethernet Switch products, which specially design for the railway transportation.
